It's the adults who need it, particularly those who never got any in school. Consider higher education for example. The universities are organized around the really important concerns of human beings. That is why there is a college of arts and sciences, a college of business, a college of engineering, a college of agriculture, a school of law, and a school of nursing, among others.

No one can seriously doubt that sexuality is one of the really important concerns of people. But there is not even a department of human sexuality. That is one of the chief reasons that there is so little research done on human sexuality. There is a department of English, a department of political science, a department of chemistry. There are a lot of departments.

Are the colleges and universities afraid to give due prominence to sexuality? Yes. And if they are, what of the public schools? Sex education, when available at all, is often so watered down that it doesn't bear much resemblance to real life. But that isn't the place to begin. It's adults who need sex education, particularly as it relates to parenting and the sexuality of children.
